Review: Silver Shadows

Silver Shadows
Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was amazing in the romance department. The whole book is built on Sydney-Adrian romance, so we see a lot less of the palm springs team. I found the gritty details of re-education both thorough and exciting. I loved how she was to build some semblence of a life around herself even in those circumstances. I wished Duncan and Chantelle had gotten re-union lines. I was quite annoyed when Adrian and co left the evil alchemists safe and sound, even as said alchemists promised to kill them as soon as they tracked them down. I wondered why Adrian used a voice glamour with strong suggestion instead of outright compulsion like Lissa use to do. It may consume more power but the alchemists they left behind would have been a lot less resourceful if they had confused memories or at least nice big bumps on their heads. The build up was great. And the ending even better. Vegas was astoundingly sweet though there were way too many close calls. But hey it was fun to read ;-).

I really hope Mead builds on Sydney's challenges of making a life for herself at court. That would be fun. Though of course she will be successful. If she could handle suspicious disgusted alchemists class mates and turn them around to like her, I have good hope she will bedazzle everyone at court too. Adrian's evasion about not telling Sydney about his mental health is getting ominous. Had a lot of fun reading this book. The vampire academy world is still just as interesting as ever. Still addicted to Mead's outstanding writing. Awaiting tht next book already.. :D

Review: The Indigo Spell

The Indigo Spell
The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is mainly Sydney-centric. Hence Jill and Eddie and Angela are not in the lime light so much. Sydney's character and personality undergo further growth. And the plot builds mainly around sydney's doubts about loving a vampire, doubts over her allegiance with the alchemists, possibilities of breaking away from them, and her adversaries in the world of witchcraft. Adrian is brilliant- the solid guy to Sydney's confused flailing. The alchemists take on a more sinister role, and suddenly the reader is left wondering...who is the real threat here?
